THE YEAR

The warm spring awakened the vines from their winter slumber. Thanks to the dry weather, the flowering could proceed wonderfully. In July and August, there were the long-awaited rains, ensuring the vines were well nourished. Thus, on September 25, 2023, we started the selective handpicking quite early. Through this intensive manual labor, we ensure that only the best grapes from our steep slopes make it to the press house. Nature was once again very gracious during the harvest, blessing us with cool nights and not so warm days. Fortunately, this way, the ripe grapes retained the welcome acidity. On October 18, we finished our grape harvest just in time before the subsequent prolonged rain.

THE WINES

We are very pleased to present, in addition to the invigorating VDP. GUTSWEINE and the elegant VDP. ORTSWEINE, two profound VDP. GROSSE GEWÄCHSE® from the Ockfener BOCKSTEIN and the Saarburger RAUSCH. Also, the fine fruity Prädikat-wines, foremost our classic Kabinett from the Saarburger RAUSCH, impress with their expressive aromatics while maintaining finesse and precision. Fortunately, nature has again given us an expressive RAUSCH Spätlese, which we have sorely missed in recent years. The elaborate selection work in the vineyard was rewarded with the harvest of a RAUSCH Auslese Gold Capsule, which we will auction on Friday, November 8, 2024, at the VDP.Mosel Großer Ring Auction in Trier. We will also present our RAUSCH Kabinett (AP. No. 3-24) there.
