Vintage 2020

We associate the year 2020 with great gratitude. And there are many reasons for this: 

In the winter, our groundwater reserves were replenished through sufficient rainfall. In the spring, the vineyards were spared late frosts and hailstorms. In the hot summer, our topsoil and cover crops once again proved their worth, which meant that our vines had enough access to moisture to absorb nutrients and develop acidity. On September 21st, earlier than ever before, we started our harvest. We were presented with ripe and absolutely healthy grapes. The fermentation in our traditional, 1000-liter oak barrels also proceeded as desired. Especially in autumn, we were once again reminded that we can rely on our family as well as our long-standing team of individuals very familiar with the vineyards.

Thanks to many healthy grapes and their gentle processing, the 2020 vintage offers accessible and animating VDP.GUTSWEINE, finesse-rich VDP.ORTSWEINE, as well as precise, elegant, and profound VDP.GROSSE LAGEN-WEINE with excellent aging potential. The typical lightness of the Saar!
