Zilliken Riesling Butterfly

Vintage: 2017
AP. No.: 11-18
Soils: Devonian slate and diabase
Bottler: Forstmeister Geltz-Zilliken
Vinification: 100% in neutral Fuder barrels

Tasting Notes:

The rigorous selection and miniscule yields of the 2017 vintage deliver a more concentrated Butterfly than in years past. Yet what this year’s off-dry delight lacks in playfulness is more than made up for in intensity and concentration.

She flies with focus, speed, and a shimmering, gossamer radiance.

Fragrant aromas of apple, melon and apricot are layered with honeysuckle, wild rose, and savory herbs. The citrus brilliance of lemon and grapefruit set the heart and palate aflutter, while a balanced sweetness and graceful structure encourage this Riesling to soar.

Drinking beautifully now, and will continue to develop in the coming years.

Serving Suggestions:

Versatile and lovely, as delicious on its own as it will be at a picnic, with a cold summer soup or a slice of Mom’s apple pie.
