Tasting Notes:

Originally formed from cooled volcanic magma, the diabase soil of the Saarburger Rausch comes together with Devonian slate in a remarkable terroir found nowhere else.
Rausch Diabas is our top feinherb (off-dry) wine, in a style comparable to a halbtrocken (semi-dry) Auslese.
Notes of spring blossoms, apricots and white peach are firmly nestled in a silken palate. Bewitching in its depth and its grace.

Serving Suggestions:

This top quality wine blends the characteristic liveliness of the Saar Rieslings with power and opulence, making it the ideal off-dry wine to serve with a variety of fine cuisines. Pairs well with a poultry dish with a fruit-based sauce or side, such as cranberries or cooked plums.

Awards and Accolades:

The 2009 Rausch Diabas was proclaimed "Innovation of the Year" by Stuart Pigott in the Sunday edition of the Frankfurter Allgemeine:
"Long sold out at the estate — despite only being produced for the first time in 2009; a hefty 30 EUR price tag, and lacking the crucial magic word 'trocken' (dry) on the label! This exceptional Riesling dazzles with a siren song of ripe summer apricots. What makes it so truly unique, however, is the marvelous exchange between ripe, satiating fruit and bright mineral freshness.
